The Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts and the Scottsdale Mall have each been the location for hundreds of weddings over the years. Every wedding ceremony and reception is unique in its own way. The Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts does not plan your special event, but allows you to bring your creative vision to light. However, we are here to answer any questions you might have regarding venue logistics.

Mall
Mayer Garden
For the most intimate event of 20 people or less, the Mayer Garden provides a lovely desert garden setting complete with a canopy of trees, a tiered waterfall fountain and James Waddell’s sculpture Mother and Child.

Marshall Garden
This picturesque setting has lovely flowers in bloom year-round and a softly flowing fountain in a sunken courtyard of red brick, shaded by overhanging trees. This space includes grassy areas on both sides, which make this space ideal for up to 200 people.

Overpass
For groups of 250 or less, the overpass provides a very open, beautifully tailored melding of decorative, majestic fountains amidst several different kinds of mature trees. Robert Indiana’s iconic LOVE sculpture is located on the lawn adjacent to Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.

Fountain Stage
The Fountain Stage is the perfect location for larger groups of up to 1,500. This area is known for its grand focal point: a flagstone and brick stage in a sea of lush grass, flanked by vivid seasonal flowers. Please be advised that seasonal staging and canopy may also be in place November through April for this location.

Amphitheater
For the largest events, up to 2,000 people, we offer the amphitheater. This area includes a beautiful water feature, a grand open area with rolling grassy hills and a Louise Nevelson’s monumental sculpture Windows to the West. Seasonal staging may be in place December through April for this location.

Lawn The Northeast Lawn
Accommodating up to 750 people, the Northeast Lawn features a beautiful level lawn flanked by mature trees, a perfect location for open-air and tented events.  Scottsdale’s distinctive City Hall overlooks the lawn, with easy access parking immediately available.

  • Charges are computed for the whole hour only. All fees are subject to change.
  • Fees are for space only. Additional charges may apply for security, equipment, and environmental services, depending on the details of the event.
  • Site Reservations must be approved by our Operations Manager & are subject to availability.
  • Due to reoccurring annual events and festivals, space availability may be limited.
  • Grass overseeding and turf renovation take place annually in October so these areas are not available.

Food and Beverage
We have a list of exclusive caterers to assist you with all your catering and rental needs. (Click here for a list of preferred caterers). Catering arrangements must be contracted separately with each individual caterer.

All alcoholic beverage services must be provided by our exclusive alcohol manager.   The Scottsdale Cultural Council manages the alcohol license for the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, and Scottsdale Mall.  If you wish to serve alcoholic beverages at your reception please contact Jamie Prins at 480-874-4697 or JPrins@sccarts.org. When dispensing alcoholic beverages on the park grounds additional security charges will be applied. The appropriate amount of security is determined by the SCPA operations department.

General Rules & Policies

The Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts (SCPA), Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Arts (SMoCA), and the Scottsdale Mall are owned by the City of Scottsdale and managed by the Scottsdale Cultural Council, a non-profit arts organization. By contract with the City of Scottsdale, the Scottsdale Cultural Council programs, schedules and, when possible, allows organizations, corporations, and individuals to rent space for both private and public events.

Payment
Payment is due one month from the contract date, with the return of a signed contract. You may cancel a date without incurring a Facility Use charge if cancellation is made sixty (60) days or more prior to the event(s) or ninety (90) days prior to an event scheduled on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. If a date is canceled with less than the required notice, you will pay the Facility Use fee as well as any other expenses directly relating to the event incurred by the Cultural Council. Events that are booked and canceled less than thirty (30) days in advance are subject to the Facility Use fee. All canceled events are subject to a two hundred and fifty dollar ($250) administration fee.

Contracts and Agreements
All contracts and/or agreements shall be in writing and executed for and on behalf of the Cultural Council. No verbal agreements, discussions, or conversations of any kind shall be construed as binding unless such exchanges are agreed upon in writing. In order to reserve Facility space, a written contractual agreement must be signed and returned with payment in full prior to the event.

Small wedding ceremonies, family social functions, and personal (not for commercial purposes) photography sessions may be held on the grounds without reservation or permit with the understanding that events being held by Scottsdale Cultural Council, City of Scottsdale and/or permitted users have priority access. Please be advised that without reservation/permit, specific areas may be fenced or barricaded, grounds keeping or construction may be in process, and sprinklers may activate at any time. Alcoholic beverages and unapproved catering are strictly prohibited. We recommend that you call us to determine if space is available and accessible.

Event Cost Estimate
An event cost estimate will be issued to the user prior to any contractual agreements. The estimate is based on events of similar nature from past experiences. The total amount from the Event Cost Estimate must be paid in full prior to the event. If for any reason the actual costs exceed the Cultural Council's estimated costs, the user shall pay the additional costs and total balance due in the post-event invoice to the Cultural Council upon receipt of the invoice.

Licenses and Permits
The user shall be responsible for obtaining all permits and licenses that may be required under applicable local law and regulations for the event(s). Music royalties for all performances are the responsibility of the user.

Donations
No collections or donations, whether for charity or otherwise, shall be made, attempted, or announced on the premises without prior written approval of the Facility Rental Manger.

Liability Insurance
Unless otherwise indicated, the Permittee is required to procure single-limit public liability insurance coverage at a minimum amount of one million ($1,000,000) for indoor events and two million ($2,000,000) for outdoor events, covering bodily injury, death, and property damage as well as Medical Payment Insurance in the amount of five thousand dollars ($5,000) covering bodily injury. THE INSURANCE CERTIFICATE MUST NAME BOTH THE SCOTTSDALE CULTURAL COUNCIL AND THE CITY OF SCOTTSDALE AS ADDITIONALLY INSURED. All vendors supplying equipment or services for your event must also submit a certificate of insurance listing the Scottsdale Cultural Council and the City of Scottsdale as additionally insured.

Invitations / Announcements / Advertising / Marketing
All forms of invitations, announcements and marketing of any kind for this event is the sole responsibility of the Permittee. The Cultural Council shall have and reserves the right to approve such forms of invitations and marketing prior to publication or announcement.

First priority scheduling is reserved for the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts (SCPA). All bookings are scheduled within the Scottsdale Cultural Council's fiscal year, which runs from July 1 through June 30. The SCPA season is secured in the calendar by the end of April, and the remaining available dates are released for public rentals on May 1. Due to this process, known availability and bookings for the proceeding season will not be available until this time.
